The Brown Hotel

I especially want to recognize Doug, the bellhop. He was phenomenal, remembered our group and other guests, and went out of his way to recommend places for shopping, food, drinks, and local history. There was a small check-in snag, through no fault of theirs, but Kerrise helped sort it out quickly and was very accommodating. I thoroughly enjoyed staying at The Brown Hotel and loved its history, charm, and the care put into the decor and atmosphere.

The central location was great, and the valet had our car ready before we even asked at checkout. The room was very comfortable, all the staff were great, and the hot brown was delicious. I loved the gorgeous common areas on the first few floors, especially the amazing lobby ceiling, and the Lobby Bar had a good selection of quality drinks and whiskies. I loved our stay and didn't want to leave. I do wish our room had a bathtub so I could've relaxed a little more, but that's a small thing. Highly recommend, and we'll be back next time we're in Louisville.

I’ve eaten hot browns in plenty of places over the years, but this is the one that gets to the heart of the dish. If you want the original, from the person who created it, this is the place to try. The turkey dinner was perfectly seasoned and so good that the imitations and variations don’t compare. My first stay here was a pleasure. Everyone on staff was courteous and kind without hovering, and valet and room service were both prompt. Dinner at the restaurant was a treat too. I can’t remember the last restaurant that brought me a glass of water before asking what I wanted to eat or drink.

The Brown made for a perfect weekend. It’s an historic hotel brought up to modern luxury standards, and the service was terrific, especially at the front desk. Our king room had plenty of space and felt cold at first, but the working thermostat fixed that easily. The plush down comforter helped too. The bed was wonderfully comfortable, and we appreciated the complimentary water and range of TV choices.
