Red Roof Inn Redding

This was the worst hotel experience I've had. I booked two rooms for four people, three from out of town and one local. When I arrived, they said locals couldn't stay, so we accepted that and planned for my uncle to sleep in his RV. Then they refused to accept his expired ID for the second room. The front desk man with the lip piercing said no hotel would accept an expired ID. I've never had a hotel ask for ID from every guest, only the person paying. They wouldn't refund the second room, so we paid for two and used just one. Roaches in that room made it hard to sleep, and I had to drive six hours home after only three hours' sleep. The same employee had told us where to park my uncle's RV, but near midnight the hotel called. In the morning they said we had to move it because the lot was private and the restaurant might tow it. The place felt disorganized and unethical. How can they keep my money for a room they wouldn't let us use?

I've stayed in plenty of hotels and motels over the past four years, and this was my worst experience. The room wasn't ready, and an employee came up to connect the TV but left the wrong remote. They took my deposit despite there being no damage. If you have pets, don't bring them here. They'll charge you for pet damage in a dirty room. The staff were rude and wouldn't give me the general manager's number. I can't recommend this place.

My paid, confirmed Booking.com reservation didn't get me a room when I arrived. The front desk cited a supposed rule against guests who live within 50 miles, but that restriction hadn't been disclosed on Booking.com or in the property rules before I paid. They refused accommodation and a refund, and offered no other options. I see this as unfair and deceptive. If the restriction exists, it should be made clear before someone books. I don't recommend this hotel. You could arrive and be left without a room or your money.

After a full day of flying, it was a relief to be welcomed so warmly. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a large TV, and the staff were attentive and pleasant with all our questions and needs. There's lots of parking and a great restaurant attached. A-plus place with considerate staff.
