What a rip off. The bed and towels were dirty, and there was hair in the bed. The room looked as though nothing had been done to it for 50 years, and the room our friends had contained a hole in the wall. There was no shower in the bathroom, just one shared shower for the whole hotel, and it was very mildewed. Staff were very unfriendly. We could only pay cash, and the hotel smelled like marijuana. The neighborhood was crowded with homeless people.

The building is falling apart, the rooms are filthy, and some have holes in the walls. Our toilet wouldn't flush. The only shower was in the hallway, one for an entire floor. The bed sheets and towels were dirty, the beds hadn't been changed, and the towels had a terrible bleach smell. You can also find cockroaches and bed bugs here. The neighborhood was horrible too, with a lot of homeless people on the streets.

After my mother killed herself in this hotel in 1969, I went with my uncles to clear out her personal belongings after the funeral. I can't forget the squalid mess the hotel always had, and I believe it will keep having until it's demolished.

The Bel Air Hotel was awful. The room was cramped and unclean, dim and old, with no TV. It didn't feel like a good place for a family, and the manager was very rude. The hotel door stayed locked until the manager saw you and opened it. There was no parking, and public parking would cost 30$ for a night. The neighborhood felt unsafe. For this price, you could book a very good motel in beautiful SF.

We left by cab after dropping the key at the counter. The building was dark, dirty, and smelled bad, and the street outside felt frightening. People called out to my wife, and a few started coming toward us, so we ran back inside. We booked another hotel in Union square and left for good. It felt like escaping a prison, and we were scared for our lives.
