BED BUGS!! My friend and I stayed February 12-14 and both ended up covered in bites. When I called, the hotel seemed quick to dismiss me and didn’t even apologize. I asked for a refund and was told to email the manager Megan, with a promise I’d hear back that day. Three days later, I still had no reply to my email or voicemail. I just wanted other travelers to know, because dealing with this and worrying about bringing them home is awful. Update: They eventually got back to me, apologized, and refunded the full stay.

I was given this hotel’s address and told they had rooms for monthly rent. When I showed up, the receptionist that night was rude and told me to wait outside and call the person who sent me. People working reception should be friendly, kind, and have good manners.

The bedding was really comfortable and smelled nice, and I loved being able to open a window. The location was great, too. I’m looking forward to coming back.

I had a clean room with everything I needed, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Great location and price. I’d definitely recommend Hotel Ikon if you want an affordable stay in downtown San Francisco.

It’s a very basic hotel with few amenities, but it worked for us since we didn’t spend much time in the room. The old elevator was a favorite. The location deserves five stars: we could walk to transit, Chinatown, bars, and restaurants. We parked safely in the garage across the street. One catch, if it’s hot outside, the room gets hot too. Also, most food places nearby close by 9:00, which was a real dilemma for us. I’ll remember that next time.
