Mövenpick Hotel Lausanne

The lake setting is lovely, and our room had a nice view, but the room itself was dusty and much too warm. I called reception about the temperature and was told someone would come, but nobody did. When I asked how long it might take, the receptionist said she was alone and had to wait for her colleague. That was hard to take seriously. Check-in was slow and chaotic, with a crowded, noisy lobby. The service felt nowhere near four-star, more like two or three at best. The bathtub was tiny, almost like a child's tub, and there was mold on the wall. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. Salt and pepper weren't set out, and the tables hadn't been cleaned properly after use. We did get an anniversary gift from the hotel and a local transport pass, but that was about all that met expectations. I expected more from Mövenpick and Swiss hospitality. Maybe that was asking too much.

I've been here a few times with friends, and we enjoyed both the food and the bar service. Yousef, the bartender, suggested the salmon dish (Le saumon), prepared by chef Hassan. It was delicious, and I'll come back to have it again.

The front desk and restaurant teams were kind, helpful, and professional, and they made my stay pleasant. The billing side was much less reassuring: my card was charged CHF 498, while the invoice showed CHF 474 for three days of breakfast for four people. After several polite emails, I still couldn't get a proper explanation. It left me questioning how transparent the accounting was, so I said I would keep the review public until the difference was clarified. Update, October 24, 2025: The day after I posted my one-star review, I finally received a detailed answer by email and on Google. I'm glad to have a clear explanation at last, though it's unfortunate it took a public review. I'd sent three emails and received one unhelpful reply before the issue seemed to be taken seriously. I do appreciate that the hotel eventually dealt with it and treated me properly. I wish the team well, and hope people can get clear answers the first time in future.

Youssef, the hotel bartender, really added to my stay. He was consistently helpful and went out of his way with little acts of kindness and a smile. The reception team also helped us sort out transport, local events, and catering. The rooms were cleaned regularly, and the food was great. We had a very nice stay.
