Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the hotel is conveniently next to a tram stop. It’s a basic, no-frills place. Self check-in can be tricky, though the woman at the desk was very helpful. The main problem was the heat: at 23 degrees, with no AC or fan, I couldn’t sleep. A table fan in the room might help.

The location was excellent, with Saffrans, a fabulous restaurant, just a two-minute walk away. The room was warm, maybe a little too warm, but opening the window sorted that out. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of piping-hot water, and a hairdryer too. I thought I’d booked a double but got twin beds, though it didn’t matter much. Checking in was a bit of a scare: the key didn’t come out of the terminal, and nobody answered the door number. Luckily, someone friendly and helpful answered the number on the website and released it. I slept well, the reception people were lovely in the morning, and the price was great. Happy to return!

Sandra and Noam deserve a special thank you for making my three nights in Dusseldorf memorable. Everyone on the Gildors hotel team was friendly and professional. I hope to stay there again when the K Fair is on.

The hotel was handy for my workplace, with the tram practically at the door and some really nice restaurants nearby. But the room I was supposedly given as the best one was a tiny cubby-hole on the top floor, with an awkwardly angled roof. Even on my own, my luggage was close to the door and there was hardly any space. I managed for one night, but a longer stay would have been difficult. There’s no restaurant at the hotel, just breakfast.
