Munich Deluxe Hotel

We wouldn’t come back. The room felt more like a suitcase storage unit, though I did appreciate having a safe. It was small, the blanket didn’t cover enough, and the pillows were nearly empty. The shower was usually cold and rarely got warm enough to use properly. The soap was tiny and kept falling through the holder. We stayed five nights and never got coffee cups for the room, even after asking three separate times. Breakfast cost $15 euros, so we didn’t try it because it should have been complimentary. The front desk staff were surprisingly unfriendly and unhelpful, apart from the nice employee at checkout. There was also a lot of street noise from octoberfest, with amplified night singers going late. We couldn’t leave the windows open because there were no screens and yellow jackets, or wasps, were a problem. A 1.5-star experience, but we’re being generous with two stars.

The location was the only redeeming feature. I stayed one night and left early because the bathroom smelled strongly of sewage, the floor was freezing, the towels were worn out, and the minibar didn’t work. The hotel seemed old and poorly maintained. Check-in was in the next building, where the elevator was broken. There was just one person at the desk, and guests had to wait quite a while to fill in paperwork by hand. Definitely not what I’d expect from somewhere calling itself “Deluxe.”

I couldn’t try the breakfast because technical problems made it impossible to pay by card, and the receptionist wasn’t especially friendly or helpful about it. The street is a bit noisy too. The room was small and smelled strongly of sewers. The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were nearly empty, and the strangely short blankets only covered half the bed.

I’ll never go back. The hotel had a really bad smell, and there was a mouse there. The internet didn’t work, and when I told the girl at check-in, she rudely said, “I can’t do nothing about that.” She was just as dismissive about the broken shower. Terrible experience.
