Casa 901

The location was convenient for walking to Vatican City, and Eddie deserves a mention for helping us get around Rome and making sure we were comfortable. He was the housekeeper who checked us in. We only saw the receptionist for about ten minutes after lunch, though she packed that short conversation with lots of food and sightseeing suggestions. The desk was otherwise empty during our visit. This is a guesthouse inside a commercial building, rather than a hotel or B&B, so different people come through the building all day. Our room was a bit worn. Water leaked out through the shower doors, and the sink drain was difficult to lift back up, so it was easy to leave the sink plugged. I wouldn't recommend it.

With the metro only 30 meters away, Casa 901 was in a fantastic spot. We spent six nights there and were greeted right on time and with a warm welcome. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and furnished with care. Staff checked in attentively to make sure we were doing well. We'd happily stay again, 5/5 from us.

The downsides were a moldy bathroom door, no all-day front desk, and no breakfast despite the place being advertised as a bed and breakfast. Our room, 305, didn't get very cold from the AC. Wi-Fi was unreliable, and we lost it entirely on our last night. There was no free bottled water or microwave in the room. On the plus side, the room was a basic, newly renovated space with a mini fridge, kettle, and TV. Housekeeping came daily, and the two caretakers we met were really nice and helpful. The Prati neighborhood was quiet, with plenty of shops and places to eat nearby. Lepanto station is a two-minute walk away, and the Vatican is about 15 minutes on foot.

My vacation was ruined by this stay. The room was filthy, the walls had damp patches and visible mold, and there were bugs on the sheets and towels. Before my flight on the last day, I left my bags at reception briefly. The desk was unattended, as it apparently always was, which was my mistake. While I was away, €80 was taken from my belongings. When I reported it, staff insulted and threatened me, then refused to offer a refund or any solution. Avoid this place.
