The Wallace

We chose the Wallace Hotel for its location while my husband attended a conference, I visited friends, and we went to museums. It was our first stay, and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were accommodating and pleasant, with a friendly, down-to-earth way of delivering professional service. I work in luxury hospitality as a brand trainer focused on service standards, and I appreciated that balance. The hotel was very clean, especially our room. Jayshawn put a smile on my son’s face by giving him a stuffed animal when we arrived. Betty helped with a few questions. I didn’t catch the names of the houseman on the evening of 2/15 and morning of 2/16, or the front desk gentleman on the morning of 2/16, but they also helped make it a great stay. Thank you.

It was hard to find a room in the city with two queen beds, but the Wallace had one, and it was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and inviting. The hotel felt modern while still being warm and cozy, and every area was clean. We especially liked the hard floors instead of carpet. This has been my best NYC stay so far, and I look forward to coming back.

The lounge was useful during heavy snow, giving guests a place to relax and have a light meal. I appreciated that the hotel seems to put its focus on room quality and guest comfort rather than offering traditional breakfast service. The bathroom amenities were so good that I didn’t use the products I’d brought. The room felt carefully designed. Layered window coverings, including sheer, blackout, and exterior blinds, gave good control over the light, and the bedding was exceptionally comfortable. The 2023 renovation still shows in the fresh feel and quality. Most staff were consistently kind and professional. During the snowstorm, housekeeping was understandably limited, but staff proactively checked if guests needed anything. The doorman who helped me on the evening of the 26th was especially warm and attentive, and left a lasting impression. A few small things could be better: the 8th-floor ice machine can be loud, the heating makes brief noises at times, and the soundproofing is decent but not perfect. None of that had much effect on my stay. I’d gladly return for the Upper West Side location, close to excellent restaurants and cultural venues. I’m grateful for the thoughtful design and sincere hospitality.

The rooms were very clean and more spacious than I expected. During the snowstorm, the door crew were fun and offered great travel advice. The staff were incredibly accommodating when my son had to change hotels while taking the bar exam. This is the best place we’ve ever stayed in NYC.
