The room and bathroom were clean, and the small room was all I needed for a visit. For San Francisco, the price and location made this a pretty good stay. Check-in and check-out at reception took longer than they should have, and one staff member seemed particularly clueless. They insisted I sign in as a guest even though I was going to my own room. Aside from that, I had a positive experience.

What a waste of money. After struggling up all those stairs with my bags, I turned right around and checked out. It was unbearably hot, and the place stank like a men’s urinal. The room was tiny, barely big enough for the bed. Opening the window only let in more heat and spread the piss smell across the whole floor. I can’t imagine anyone sleeping in those conditions. Just gross!

A friend of mine rents here by the week. Their room is so cramped I rarely visit: it has a little sink and a twin bed, and there’s barely room for the person paying to live there, let alone company. One person is a party, two is a crowd. Maybe it works if you’re thin and firmly antisocial. The bathroom windows don’t close all the way at the top, and people in the next building can look straight in. Feeling watched makes it hard to pee, so I spend twice as long trying to convince myself I’m safe. By the time I’m done, my legs have fallen asleep. It’s not the best place, but it’s not the worst either. I sure as hell wouldn’t pay to live there.

Structure Properties manages this property well. There’s daily maintenance, and security cameras cover every floor to help keep tenants safe. Lindsay, the manager, is very hands-on and does a great job helping residents with problems.

I booked two nights for my daughter, starting April 19th 2019. When she arrived, there was a sign for the Holet, but no door she could use to get inside. She spent an hour looking around. Every door was closed, and no one answered the provided phone number. Someone told her the place was under construction. Why did they take my money and accept the booking? My daughter was stranded. A horrible experience!
