Hotel Brecherspitze

Our room was a good size and quiet, but it smelled moldy unless we opened the windows after showers and in the morning. The front desk and maid service were great. Breakfast was good too, with bread, meat, cheese, fruit, jam, cereal, and hard- or soft-boiled eggs.

The service was terrible, and the concierge looked like they’d had their kidneys removed. I’ve never seen a hotel this atrocious. The central heating felt like Hitler’s gas chambers. There was no drinking water in the rooms, only what I could get from the toilet, and the flush didn’t work properly. The bed felt like thorns. Camping on the street would have been more comfortable. The hotel wasn’t even worth the paper I printed the confirmation on.

The bathroom, with the WC and shower, isn’t in the room, though there’s a sink and a few towels for you to use. The rooms are spacious and clean, the place is pretty comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. It takes 20 minutes to reach the city centre by tram, S Bahn, or bus, or 40 minutes on foot. There’s a Greek restaurant just around the corner.

The included breakfast is a nice extra for the price. There’s a kettle, mugs, and a selection of tea in the room, and the tap water is drinkable. I feel sorry for the other reviewer who thought their only option was water from the toilet. It fits the bill, with a good room, a lift to each floor, and a very good location near the S-Bahn stop.
