Mi-Loft Shibuya

My partner and I booked this apartment for two nights, but the stay felt so unpleasant that we moved to a hotel after checking in. Safety was our top priority, and the locks and location made us feel unsafe from the moment we arrived. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I’d spend a little more in Tokyo and book somewhere else. We’d booked through Agoda, which said the unit number and password would be sent the day before. Nothing had arrived by the day of check-in, so my partner called at 2pm to ask about it, even though check-in was at 4pm. I’d also messaged the staff a week earlier to ask about checking in a bit sooner because we had a lot of luggage, but never got a reply. The apartment was very small, but the bigger issue was that one of its two locks didn’t work, and the other felt so flimsy we could hardly lock it properly. The loft area was tiny and the bed barely fit two people. The cabinets smelled strange, the toilet was incredibly small, and the one little heater couldn’t warm the whole place during winter. We took a taxi there and found nothing to see nearby. The area felt unsafe, especially at night, when we could hear random music playing.

I booked the larger room by mistake and noticed within an hour, but they wouldn’t refund the fee or switch me to the smaller one. I have no need for a quadruple room. The only option was to cancel and lose around 7700 yen for nothing. They’re thieves, and I won’t book with them again. Cancellations should be free when the request is reasonable.
